As many as 52 women were raped, 22 gang-raped and five murdered after rape across the country in the first month of 2019, reveals a report of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP).
A total of 298 incidents of violence against women took place during the same period, according to the report BMP unveiled on Sunday.
The women's human rights organisation made the report public at a press conference at its auditorium.
A total of 23 incidents of rape and rape attempts happened in the first day of January this year, the data showed.
In 2018, a total of 3,918 women and children became victims of violence across the country.
Some 942 women and children were raped and 182 were gang-raped last year.
