CHITTAGONG, July 8 (BSS): Seven policemen were suspended Tuesday over the death of a businessman in police custody in the city.
The suspension order came after the policemen were found involved in the death of Rokonuzzaman (45), a real estate businessman and a Bima employee, police sources said. Police said the businessman died after police arrested him in a rape case on June 19.
The suspended cops are Amir Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) of Panchlaish thana, Mohammad Enayet Hossain, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Bakalia thana and constables Mizanur Rahman, Moslem Uddin, Khokon Mia and Akbar Hossain and Ansar Battalion's constable Shahinur Alam.
Of them, SI Amir Hossain and constable Moslem were arrested Monday as evidences were found against them in the primary investigation of the incident, police sources added.
