70 Covid, 112 dengue cases reported

Bangladesh reported 70 more Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours until Thursday morning as the cases keep rising in the country, reports UNB.

With the new numbers, the country's total caseload rose to 2,039,417, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

However, the official death toll from the disease remained unchanged at 29,446 as no new fatalities were reported.

The daily case test positivity rate rose to 5.99 percent from Wednesday's 2.72 percent as 1,174 samples were tested.

The recovery rate stands at 98.38 percent. However, the death rate remained unchanged at 1.44 percent.

Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 in 2021 and highest number of fatalities of 264 on August 10 the same year.

Meanwhile, one-hundred-twelve more people were hospitalised with dengue in the last 24 hours until Thursday morning.

Of the new patients, 112 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside it, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Three-hundred-thirty-six dengue patients, including 293 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

So far, the DGHS has recorded 2, 134 dengue cases, 1785 recoveries, and 13 deaths this year.
