8 killed in accidents

KHULNA, Aug 29: Two persons were killed and another was injured in a road accident at Parulia under Debhata upazila of Satkhira district on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Mahadeb (40), son of Ronjon of village Chandipur of Debhata upazila, Kenaram (45), son of Haripada and injured person is Zakir Ali Shaikh (38), son of Mohor Ali Shaikh of the same area.   

Police and eyewitness said that Mahadeb, Kenaram and Zakir were going to Satkhira on foot. Driver of a speedy truck lost control over the steering and crushed them from behind when they reached in front of Light Cinema Hall.

Mahadeb died on the spot and Kenaram died on the way to hospital and Zakir was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for treatment.

UNB adds: In Mymensingh, A man was killed and 10 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway at Sharshi in Ishwarganj upazila Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Shamim, a security guard of a local bazar.

BSS adds: In Habiganj, Three persons, including father and son, were killed and six others injured when a microbus and a CNG run auto rickshaw collided head -on near Syedpur Market under Nabiganj Upazila of the district on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway this noon.

Eyewitnesses said a Nabiganj- bound CNG run auto rickshaw coming from Sherpur and Dhaka- bound microbus coming from Sylhet collided head -on near Syedpur bazaar. After the head -on collision CNG run auto rickshaw passenger Maulana Md Rezaul died on the spot.

Among the injured passengers Maulana Hafizur Rahman, 40, died on way to the Sylhet Osmany Medical College Hospital and his father Kazi Sayed Miah, 65, died in the hospital. Rest the six injured persons were admitted to the Sylhet Osmany Medical College Hospital.
