COX'S BAZAR: Eighty-five Bangladeshis have returned home after their imprisonment in Myanmar. On the other hand, 123 BGP and army personnel who fled to save their lives due to the conflict in the country are going back to Myanmar.
On Sunday (September 29) at 9 am, they were brought to Nunyarchhara BIWTA wharf in Cox's Bazar by a boat from the Myanmar Navy ship 'UMS Chin Duin' in the Bay of Bengal.
Earlier, the 85 Bangladeshi citizens left for Bangladesh on Saturday from Sittwe port in Rakhine, Myanmar. Of these, 26 were in Malamine prison in Myanmar, 16 in Pathein prison, three in Chakmaru prison and the rest in various prisons in Rakhine.
The returnees hail from Cox's Bazar, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Noakhali and Dhaka districts.
Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Mohammad Salahuddin confirmed it.
He said that the continued efforts of the Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon and Sitwe Bangladesh Consulate made it possible to send Bangladeshi citizens back to their families in the country once again.
The 123 BGP and army personnel who fled in the last few months due to the conflict in Myanmar were being returned.
They were brought to Cox's Bazar Ghat from Damdamia in Teknaf by five buses at 8:30 am on Sunday. After their verification process, they were ferried by boat to the Myanmar ship in the Bay of Bengal.
