The Covid-19 Telehealth Centre of the Access to Information (a2i) Programme has won the 'World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Prize-2023' of the United Nations, a major recognition in the IT sector in the international arena, reports UNB.
The telehealth centre project obtained the prestigious prize for its championship in the 'ICT Application: Benefits in All Aspects of Life' category for reaching healthcare services to people's fingertips during the Covid-19 period.
The WSIS Prizes honour outstanding projects that leverage the power of information and communication technology to accelerate achievement of sustainable development goals.
The prizes were conferred at a ceremony at International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN's specialised agency for ICT, in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday.
Project director of a2i program Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir and Chief e-Governance Strategist Forhad Zahid Shaikh attended the function and received the prize, said a press release.
The Cabinet Division and ICT Division in collaboration with the health ministry started the 'Covid-19 Telehealth Centre' project to ensure health services for the citizens during the pandemic.
