The Anti-corruption Co-mmission (ACC) has approved a charge sheet against eight individuals, including seven staff of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), for allegedly embezzling around Tk 3.5 million.

The Commission at a meeting on Monday approved the proposal for submitting the charge sheet against them, ACC officials said.

The accused were identified as higher grade clerks of CPA Shamol Krishna Bhowmik and Pradeep Kumar Mohajan, departure assistant Adhir Kanti Chakrabartee, former assistant traffic inspector Saleh Jahor, suspended ASI Mizanur Rahman and security personnel Sagir Ahmed and Monir Ahmed and Barun Kanti Sen of C&F agent Albo Enterprise.

According to the ACC investigation, goods worth Tk 3.5 million were stolen from Yard-1 of Chittagong Port in 2000, but all the accused in collusion with each other plundered the revenue through false declaration of the goods.

In February 2014, the ACC filed a case with Bandar Police Station in the port city in this connection.

ACC deputy assistant director Khandaker Akheruzzaman conducted the investigation into the graft case.
