The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved charge-sheets in two cases filed against former Jatiya Party MP MA Jabbar and his son Mahbub Hossain for allegedly amassing illegal wealth.

The commission in its regular meeting approved proposals for submitting charge-sheets against them, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told the FE on Monday.

On October 13, 2014, ACC assistant director Maksudur Rahman filed two cases against Jabbar and his son Mahbub for allegedly acquiring illegal wealth.

According to the case statements, Jabbar accumulated illegal wealth worth Tk 17.3 million while his son earned wealth amounting to Tk 1.95 million from unknown sources.

On January 12, 2014, the ACC launched probe into the allegations of unusual wealth accumulation by seven politicians, including Abdul Jabbar.

On April 07 last year, Abdul Jabbar submitted wealth statements of his family to the ACC.

After scrutiny, ACC found that Abdul Jabbar and his son amassed wealth illegally.
