ACC official Enamul Basir denied HC bail

The High Court on Tuesday refused to grant bail to Khandaker Enamul Basir, suspended director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), in a case filed over the transaction of Tk4.0 million as bribe.
His lawyer took back the bail petition as the High Court bench of Justice Farid Ahmed and Justice ASM Abdul Mobin did not agree to grant him bail or to issue a rule in this regard.
But now Basir has the opportunity to submit the petition in another HC bench.
His lawyer M M Jamal Hossain said they would submit the petition in another HC bench soon.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan, who appeared in the court on behalf of ACC, said, "Enamul Basir have damaged the image of the ACC by taking bribe from DIG Mizanur Rahman. He cannot get bail.
It is unfortunate that an ACC official took Tk 4.0 million as bribe from someone. There is nothing more shameful than that."
