ACC quizzes ex-state minister on wealth statement

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) interrogated Sunday former state minister for water resources Md Mahbubur Rahman Talukder on charges of his unusual wealth accumulation in last five years.

The anti-graft body deputy director Khairul Huda quizzed him from 11.30am to 2.30pm at the ACC head office in the city, officials said.

After the grilling, the state minister told the reporters that the ACC's step to interrogate the former ministers, member of parliaments (MPs) is very positive.

"I expressed my opinion on the allegations brought against me, and answered the commission's queries," he said.

On February 12, the ACC summoned the two former ministers-AFM Ruhal Haque, and Mahbubur Rahman, for interrogation of wealth accumulation in the last five years.

According to the notices, the former health minister AFM Ruhal Haque was asked to be present before the ACC headquarters today (Monday).

Earlier, the ACC started investigation into the alleged illegal wealth of the seven ministers and MPs.

They are former health minister AFM Ruhal Haque MP, former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, former state minister for water resources Mahbubur Rahman MP, lawmaker of Cox's Bazar-4 Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP of Rajshahi-4 Engineer Enamul Haq, MP of Dhaka-14 Aslamul Haque and Abdul Zabbar of Satkhira.
