An Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) team on Monday conducted a raid on the house of former National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) Director General and dismissed Major General Ziaul Ahsan at Jalshiri in the capital.
During the operation, investigators examined property allegedly linked to him at 39 locations across the country with a registered value of about Tk160 million.
The operation, led by ACC Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam, forms part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income, according to an ACC press release.
Officials said the exercise involved documenting both movable and immovable assets found inside the Jalshiri residence and collecting relevant information that could be used as evidence in the inquiry.
The ACC team prepared a detailed inventory of household assets, furnishings and other valuables found on the premises, alongside records relating to the property.
At the same time, investigators examined a wide range of property allegedly owned by or linked to Ziaul Ahsan and his interest-related persons.
According to ACC officials, the assets under scrutiny include flats, duplex houses, an eight-storey building, residential plots, agricultural land and other immovable property spread across 39 locations.
Based on land registration documents, the property carry a recorded value of around Tk 160 million, although officials noted that current market values could be significantly higher.
