The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday fired one of its security personnel over allegation of fraudulence and taking bribe from a private organisation.

The person, ACC constable Asaduzzaman, impersonating an inspector, demanded bribe from the organisation saying ACC will file a VAT related case against them if the money he demanded was not paid.

In primary investigation, the commission found evidence of receiving bribe by Asaduzzaman in three phases at a city restaurant and Ramna Park, ACC public relation official Pranab Bhattacharjee told the FE.

After finding clear evidence of corruption by the policeman, ACC fired him immediately, he added.

The national anti-graft authority on the day also filed a case against a former member of Customs, Excise and VAT Appeal Tribunal Mohammad Nurul Islam for gaining wealth from unknown sources.

ACC deputy director SMM Akhter Hamid Bhuiyan filed the case with Ramna police station.

According to the case statement, Mr Nurul, also a former commissioner of Mongla Customs House, acquired wealth of Tk 6.95 million from unknown sources that he concealed in his wealth statement submitted to the ACC.

However, another graft case was filed against the accused on July 4, 2011 with Mongla police station for siphoning off Tk 45 million abroad in the name of importing cosmetics.

The customs official was also arrested by the commission based on the graft case as of October 16, 2016 from the city's Segunbagicha.

Currently, he is on bail.
