FE Report | February 09, 2015 00:00:00

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file a case against Priti Haider, wife of former state minister for water resources M Mahbubur Rahman, for allegedly amassing illegal wealth worth about Tk 10.8 million.

The Commission at a regular meeting on Sunday decided to file the case, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told The Financial Express.

Earlier in 2014, ACC initiated a probe against Priti for allegedly accumulating illegal wealth, when her husband was state minister during the Awami League government's previous term.

On August 21, 2014, ACC also sued Mahbubur Rahman on charge of acquiring wealth illegally.

Meanwhile, the Commission has also decided to file a case against five officials of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) for allegedly swindling the government's money through preparing fake documents.

The case will be filed against EMIS Cell system analyst Abul Fazal M Belal, programmers M Asaduzzaman and M Ziaur Rahman, and assistant programmers Rafiqul Islam and Najib Ud Dowla.

ACC deputy director Abdus Sattar Sarkar probed the graft allegation.

According to the ACC inquiry findings, all the accused in collusion with each other withdrew over Tk 4 million as two months' salary (May-June 2013) of 256 teachers and staff by preparing their fake monthly payment order (MPO) sheets, and thus misappropriated the amount.
