Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Wednesday said the commission will go tough on money laundering this year.
"Some corrupt people are plundering people's wealth and sending it abroad. This year, the commission will try its best to prevent money laundering," he said.
The national anti-graft agency has started gathering information from authentic sources about money laundering, the ACC chief added.
He said these while speaking at a human-chain, organised by ACC as part of observing Corruption Prevention Week 2018, in front of the National Press Club in the capital.
Referring to reliable sources, Mr Mahmood said, "Some of the corrupt businessmen, in collusion with some government officials and bankers, are siphoning off money abroad in the name of import via over-invoicing."
Seeking support from all quarters concerned in ACC's efforts to prevent capital flight, the ACC chief said the commission will take stern legal actions to secure people's wealth by checking money laundering.
