Both are accused of amassing significant assets through irregularities and misuse of power, with properties, lands, bank deposits, and other investments linked to them and their relatives. Based on initial findings, the commission has decided to initiate investigation into their alleged involvement in illicit activities.
It is reported that Mozammel, during his tenure as minister, accumulated vast wealth through corruption and irregularities in various projects, receiving commissions worth millions of taka.
He owns a three-story building in Joydebpur, Gazipur, and another two-story building in the same area. Additionally, various bank deposits and investments are linked to his name.
It is also reported that he owns 691.08 decimals of land and 101.485 decimals of non-agricultural land in various parts of Gazipur.
Besides, while serving as the liberation war affairs minister, he issued numerous fake freedom fighter certificates in exchange for significant bribes.
On the other hand, it is alleged that Nurul Islam Nahid, during his tenure as minister, was engaged in corruption and irregularities in various projects, collecting commissions worth millions of taka.
He is reported to own a flat and 5.0 katha of land in Uttara and 3.0 katha of land in Nikunja.
Additionally, Nahid holds agricultural and non-agricultural lands in Bianibazar, Sylhet, under single and joint ownership. There are also bank deposits and other investments in his name, as well as savings certificates and bank deposits in his wife's name.
Allegedly, a large sum of money was laundered abroad through his brother, Dr. Nazrul Islam, who resides in the UK, and a close friend, Kamal Ahmed, who lives in the US. Nahid also received a huge amount of commission from contractors.
