CHATTOGRAM, Aug 03: Accused in 70 per cent of the cases of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have been penalised by courts, said Commissioner (Investigation) of the ACC Dr Mohammed Mozammel Haque Khan.
Among the arrestees in the cases filed by the ACC, there were not only common people but also many influential figures, he told a public hearing of the anti-graft watchdog held at Shah Alam Bir Uttam Hall of Chattogram Medical College (CMC) on Wednesday.
Addressing the event as chief guest, Dr Mohammed Mozammel Haque Khan said, "We'll show zero tolerance against corruption. Now the ACC is stronger than any other previous time. The corrupt persons who are accused in the ACC cases must face legal action. ACC will never spare anyone of the accused in its corruption cases."
Director General of the ACC AKM Sohel said the Commission arranged the public hearing to listen to the common people's experiences about their sufferings at the government offices, adding the government officials are public servants who are bound to provide services to the people without harassing them in any way and without indulging in any type of corruption.
