Acid hurled on woman in city

A woman was injured in an acid attack by miscreants at West Matuail in the city's Jatrabari area on Friday night, reports UNB.

The victim was identified as Piya Pakhi (50), wife of Ruhul Amin of Bishadpur village in Ataikula Upazila of Pabna district.

She resides at West Matuail in the city's Jatrabari area.

Quoting the victim, assistant sub-inspector Setu Chandra Das, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said criminals, including Munna and Shah Alam, two well known extortionists of the area, threw acid on Piya when she was returning home at about 9:30 pm, leaving her injured.
