Destiny clients will get back their 'embezzled' money
Actions against the staff of 30 multipurpose cooperative societies, including Destiny Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd, are under process based on investigation, reports UNB.
State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga, on behalf of LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, said this in the House Monday replying to a starred question from Awami League MP Israfil Alam (Naogaon-6).
Ranga placed a list of 30 multipurpose societies registered with the Cooperative Department which allegedly swindled the money of people through their so-called microcredit programmes.
The junior minister said an investigation process against the multipurpose cooperative societies in connection with money embezzlement has already been completed. "Following the investigation reports, the process of taking actions against the staff of the cooperative societies is now underway."
As per the list, Destiny Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd, Kakrail, Dhaka allegedly embezzled an amount of Tk 14.49 billion.
In reply to a supplementary question from Jatiya Party MP Kazi Firoz Rashid, the state minister said clients of the Destiny Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd will get back their alleged embezzled money.
"They (clients) will get back the money one day. The money has not been siphoned off yet. Its property and assets are now under our watch," he said.
