AJML workers stage agitation demanding salary, Eid bonus

CHITTAGONG, Sep 22 (BSS): Workers of Amin Jute Mills Ltd (AJML) here, one of the oldest public sector jute factory in the country, Monday agitated inside the mill premises and abstained from work for sometime to press home their 10- point demand.
The demands include taking urgent steps to pay salary, festival bonus and outstanding wages and reinstatement of retrenched " leave vacancy" category workers.
AJML sources said the workers have been staging agitation on a regular basis for the last three days to materialise their demands.
AJML CBA president Mohabbat Ali Khan told the news agency that they would observe a sit in programme for two hours from 9:00 am today in front of the mills and bring out processions on September 24 and 25.
He said they would observe a 'rail-road blockade' programme from September 27 if the government do not pay any heed to their legitimate demands in the meantime.
The CBA leaders alleged that a section of trade union leaders of AJML led by one Khalek had been trying to instigate the workers unnecessarily with a motive to shut down the industry in the name of all-out movement.
