All rescued as picnic trawler capsizes

BHOLA, Dec 25 (UNB): A trawler carrying 50 picnickers capsized in the Meghna River after hitting a hidden shoal near Bason-Bhanga Char in Tajumuddin upazila on Thursday.

Locals said the Monpura-bound trawler from Lalmohan upazila sank in the river around 2:30pm.

However, local people and travellers from other vessels rescued all the 50 passengers of the sunken trawler, said Kamruzzaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Tajumuddin upazila.

On information, a police team from Tajumuddin Police Station rushed to the spot.
