Anniversary of Khaza Selima Khatun's death today

The 19th anniversary of death of eminent journalist, educationist, social worker, politician and women movement leader Khaza Selima Khatun will be observed today (Wednesday). She was popularly known as 'Mina Apa'.
Selima was a commissioner of Jessore municipality and was the editor and publisher of weekly 'Banhi'. She had played a pioneering role in journalism as vice-president of Jessore Press Club.
Chairman and Editor-Publisher of the national business magazine Arthokotha and Chairman And Managing Director of Motherland Group Sayed Rana Moostofee is her son.
Khaza Selima Khatun was the member of national social welfare council, one of the founder directors of national women cooperatives and the Chairman of the Jessore branch of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha. She was one of the founders and headmistresses of Jessore Seba Sangha Girls’ High School. She also served as the head mistress of Kuada Girls’ High School.
