Another accused gives confessional statement

SYLHET, July 20: A court in Sylhet has recorded the confessional statement of accused night guard Moina Mia in the sensational Samiul Alam Rajon murder case.
Earlier, another accused gave confessional statement in connection with the case of the killing of the 13-year-old boy.
Inspector Suranjit Talukder of the Detective Branch of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) started investigation into the much-talked-about case on July 17 following a court order, said Mohammad Rahamat Ullah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) of the SMP.
Rajon was beaten to death on July 08 in the city's Kumargaon bus-stand area by a group of people who suspected him as a thief. They also videoed the gruesome killing and posted it on the website.
Besides, they negotiated the matter with officer-in-charge (Investigation) Alamgir Hossain and Sub-Inspector Alamgir Hossain of Jalalabad police station to divert suspicion away from them, Rajon's father complained.
Meanwhile, a three-member committee headed by additional commissioner of SMP SM Rukon Uddin is investigating allegations brought against the police for filing a case quickly. In its probe, Sub Inspector Aminul Islam said 'an unidentified person had been beaten to death on July 8 after he stole a van from Kumargaon bus-stand area.
Victim's family members and locals alleged that police had hurriedly filed the case just to protect the killers.
Besides, the two had sent back Rajon's father when he went to the police station for filing a complaint, accusing the killers. However, Rajon's father lodged a complaint with the police the following day and the police recorded his statement in the case.
Later, prime accused Kamrul allegedly bribed the police and managed to fly to Saudi Arabia where he was caught by some Bangladeshis after days.
The process to bring him back will start in a couple of days, officials concerned informed.
Meanwhile, different groups and organisations have continued staging demonstrations demanding capital punishment to the killers.
Police on July 15 arrested Nur Miah who had videoed the incident. Officer-in-charge of Jalalabad police station Md. Akhtra Hossain today said with this, the number of arrested people stood at seven. Among them, two gave confessional statement before court to date.  He along with two others was caught by locals while trying to dump the body into an area.
