CHITTAGONG, Jan 10: Bangladesh exported on Saturday the second consignment of boiled rice to Sri Lanka by the BSC vessel MV Banglar Kollol.
The ship left the Chittagong Port for Sri Lanka at around 2.00 pm. Officers of the Department of Food of Bangladesh, Chittagong Port officials and senior officials of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) were present at the jetty no. 4 of the port on the occasion.
The vessel carried 12,500 tonnes of rice as part of the 25,000 tonnes of rice shipped to Sri Lanka in the first phase. The first consignment of 12,500 tonnes of rice was shipped to SL on December 27 last.
The government of Bangladesh signed an agreement with the Sri Lanka government to export 50,000 tonnes of rice at the rate of US$ 450 per tonne.
