The government plans to set up an architecture repository to open data and seamless flow of information within the government organisations, official sources said, reports BSS.
Talking to the news agency, Information and Commu-nication Technology (ICT) Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder said the architecture repository has become inevitable at a time when the government has initiated multiple major ICT interventions and innovations through multiple ministries and organisations.
"We must have a National Enterprise Architecture (NEA) as digitisation is progressing fast and the government is committed to establishing e-governance and e-services for ensuring transparency and providing hassle- free services to the doorstep of the people," he said adding NEA is still relatively a new concept and stakeholders should identify the areas of contribution.
The World Bank financed Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) has initiated the move aiming to bring the government's multiple ICT interventions and initiatives under a systematic approach and methodology.
"The architecture repository will be established under National Enterprise Architec-ture (NEA) considering the key components- access and presentation, business, data, application, interoperability, mobility, technology, security, policies, guidelines and standards, government and management," said LICT Project Director Md. Rezaul Karim.
The LICT project will organise a series of seminars to interact with the officials of the government ministries and organisations for interoperability issues.
The NEA is to be considered as a national highway interconnecting key ministries and organisations enabling seamless flow of information, said Director of National Data Center and LICT Deputy Project Director Tarique M Barkatulla.
He said there are more than 20 national databases with redundant information and interoperability issues which are required to be look into.
He said NEA framework will provide reference models, concepts, standards, that will be serving as guideline for the government.
