Army chief makes farewell call on President, PM

Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan made a farewell call on President Md Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Tuesday, report agencies.
During the meeting, the army chief expressed gratitude to the President for extending necessary guidance and cooperation in discharging his duties, Presi­dent's press secretary Joynal Abedin told the news agency.
Meanwhile, outgoing Army Chief General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina at her Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban office on Wednesday.
Mr Iqbal extended his sincere gratitude to the PM for giving necessary guidelines and support to the development of Bangladesh Army, said PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim while briefing reporters after the meeting.
Sheikh Hasina, also the in-charge of the Ministry of Defence, thanked General Bhuiyan for successfully performing his responsibilities during his tenure in Bangladesh Army.
