FE Report
Army personnel will be engaged at nine regional passport offices in the country aiming at providing technical support in making machine-readable passport (MRP) and machine-readable visa (MRV), an ISPR press release said.
The release said necessary military personnel will be engaged at those regional offices where the project of introducing MRP or MRV will begin tomorrow (April 18).
The regional offices are: Chittagong, Comilla, Sylhet, Barisal, Gopalganj, Mymensingh, Jessore, Rajshahi and Rangpur.
"The decision came as the home ministry had earlier sought assistance from armed forces to complete the project smoothly and successfully," it stated adding that the army will provide technical support like filling up forms and record preservation.
The project started from Dhaka passport office on April 1 this year.
