CHITTAGONG, Aug 01: An artificial crisis of fertiliser persists in different upazilas of greater Chittagong including Cox's Bazar, Bandarban and Khagrachari. The farmers are warried of their future due to such a crisis of essential requisite for cultivation during the current Aman season.

Where as there is no crisis of fertiliser, it is being sold at excess rate in different areas. Sources however, termed it as an artificial crisis created by the dishonest circle to earn extra profit which has put the farmers into a state of disappointment.

Despite having no deficit in supply of fertiliser, the farmers are not being supplied with the input at fair price and upto their required needs.

Fertiliser factories like Chittagong Urea Fertiliser Ltd (CUFL), Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) Complex and the godowns of the importers based in Chittagong are filled with different fertilisers but it is not available in different areas of the upazilas.

According to the concerned sources, the present system of marketing fertiliser is faulty so the farmers are not getting it at fair price.

Sources said as farmers are not supplied with the fertiliser as per their requirements and at fair prices, production of Aman may be hampered.
