Asian universities debating begin

The fifth Asian Universities Debating Championship (AUDC), the largest debating forum in Asia, began Thursday with the participation of some 276 debaters of 69 teams from 10 Asian countries.
Speaker Abdul Hamid inaugurated the six-day event as the chief guest at the city's Sonargaon Hotel in the evening, while University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Nazrul Islam attended the function as the special guest.
It is for the first time the international tournament is being held in a country of South Asia since the first session was held in the Philippines in 2005.
