Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr AK Abdul Momen has said the children with autism should be treated like normal ones to make them worthy citizens through flourishing their latent talents, reports BSS.
"They (autistics children) have equal rights to groom up like other normal children," he told a conference on autism held Thursday in New York, an official release received in the city Friday.
Advocacy Leadership Network organised the conference.
Praising bold leaderships of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Hossain against autism, Dr Momen urged the global community to create awareness about autism.
He highlighted some work strategies, including supervision of efficient and trained people, arranging special education programme and providing financial, to protect autistics children.
Permanent representative of Qatar to UN Alya Ahmed Saif and representatives of other UN member countries, among others, participated in the discussion.
Social Welfare Secretary Nasima Begum also attended the conference.
