Azad calls for making breastfeeding campaign a success

Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad Thursday called for providing the mothers nutritional, emotional and social support so that they can breastfeed their babies, reports BSS.
He described mother's milk as one of the best gifts of the Almighty, and said breastfeeding ensures proper physical and mental growth of babies and at the same time protects them from diseases and reduces neonatal mortality.
"Mother's milk has all the ingredients needed for proper growth of children," he said, speaking as the chief guest at the launch of the web-based One Million Campaign: Support Women to Breastfeed in the city.
He urged all to strengthen the campaign to make it a success. Organised by Bangladesh Breastfeeding Foundation (BBF), the launching ceremony was chaired by BBF chairman Dr SK Roy.
