Ban on battery-run rickshaws, vans demanded

Bidyut Opoychoykari Oboidha Batterychalito Rickshaw-Van Protirodh Committee on Tuesday urged the government to ban plying of the battery-run rickshaws and vans immediately. Power is being wasted for such vehicles and people are being killed in road accidents caused by battery-driven rickshaws and vans, the leaders said. They said this while addressing a human chain formed in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city. The committee leaders gave the government a 20-day ultimatum to ban plying of battery-run vehicles, according to a news agency.
