Bangla Lion gets Tk 1.9b loan to expand WiMAX service

Bangla Lion Communications Limited signed a syndicated loan agreement of Tk 1.91 billion with a number of banks and NBFIs in the city Monday to expand its WiMAX service network across the country.
AB Bank Limited is the lead arranger and agent of the syndicated loan facility. Sonali Bank, Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), Bangladesh Commerce Bank Ltd (BCB), Mercantile Bank Ltd, United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCB) and Saudi-Bangladesh Industrial and Agricultural Investment Company Ltd (SABINCO) are the participating banks.
AB Bank president and managing director (MD) Kaiser A Chowdhury said the agreement is an example of public-private collaboration of syndicate financing. "This is a giant leap forward, as it would create a platform for higher internet penetration in Bangladesh."
