Bangladesh doing well in achieving health sector MDGs: CA

Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed Wednesday said Bangladesh has done well in achieving many UN Millennium Development Goals in the health sector compared to several other countries as it gives priority to the sector, reports UNB.
The Chief Adviser made the remarks when visiting WHO South East Asian Regional Director Dr Samlee Plianbangchang made a courtesy call on him at the CA's office.
Dr Fakhruddin said Bangladesh has strong collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) for health sector development.
He thanked the WHO executive for its cooperation to Bangladesh, particularly for the training of nurses and repair and maintenance of modern medical equipment.
He said there are further scopes in Bangladesh for providing better healthcare services to people.
The Chief Adviser requested the WHO official to appoint Bangladeshi manpower to the World Health Organisation as it has under representation to the WHO.
The WHO regional director assured him that he would definitely look into it and take steps as soon as possible.
Health Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Dr ASM Matiur Rahman, Health Secretary and Chief Adviser's Press Secretary were also present.
