Bangladesh Railway introduces Dhaka-Khulna inter-city train

KHULNA, Oct 8 (BSS): Bangladesh Railway introduced a new inter-city train between Khulna and Dhaka from Sunday.
General manager of Bangladesh Railway (Western Zone) Musfiqur Rahman inaugurated the train service connecting Dhaka with Khulna at a simple ceremony at Khulna Railway Station.
BR sources said the one way fare for economy class was fixed at Taka 235, while the prices for chair coach is Taka 425 and for first class Taka 625.
The fare for air-conditioned coach of the inter-city train was fixed at Taka 900.
The sources also said the train would stop at Naoapara, Jessore, Darshana, Alamdanga, Poradah, Tangail and Joydevpur stations.
Another report adds: Authorities of Bangladesh Railway (BR) responded positively to the people's call by approving stoppages of two intercity express trains at Pirgachha station in Rangpur from Sunday.
Officials said it was a long cherished demand of the people of the area for making stoppages of the two intercity trains-Lalmonirhat Express and Korotoa Express--- at Pirgachha station.
On the occasion, a meeting was organised on Sunday at the station with Pirgachha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Goutam Kumar in the chair.
The Joint Forces official of Rangpur Lt Col Kazi Mohammad Kaiser Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Khondoker Atiar Rahman, Traffic Superintendent of BR (west zone) Golam Mohammad Baten, Officer-in-Charge of Pirgachha Norendra Nath Sarker and Principal Nazrul Islam were present.
