Banks asked to freeze A/Cs of Zahid Maleque, Liakat Ali

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered the banks to freeze the accounts of former Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Computer World BD Chairman Mohammad Ali Sikdar alias Liakat Ali Sikdar, and their family members.

Their family members include Zahid Maleque's son Ahad Maleque, daughter Sinthia Maleque, and Mohammad Ali Sikdar's wife Mahmuda Ali Sikdar, who also serves as the CEO of Computer World BD.

An official at BFIU confirmed the matter to The Financial Express and said the action followed reports of suspicious transactions linked to the individuals and the company, prompting the issuance of the freeze order.

The BFIU's directive, effective for 30 days initially, extends to the company's bank accounts as well.
