They said the surgery also showed good result in curing diabetes and reducing high blood pressure, both are now on the rise in the country.

The surgery is gaining popularity in the western countries due to its effectiveness. Exercise and diet alone often failed to effectively treat people with extreme and excessive obesity. Bariatric surgery is an operation that is performed in order to help such individuals lose weight, they said.
