BAU student held in Saad murder case in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, May 17 (UNB): Police in a drive arrested an accused in the case for killing Saad Inbe Momtaz, a student of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, from a house on the Godown Road in the town early Saturday.

The arrested student was identified as Antar Chowdhury. Acting on secret information, a team of police raided the house and arrested Antar in the early hours of Saturday, said Rafiul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gaibandha Sadar Thana.

Saad, a final year student of the Fisheries Faculty of the university, was beaten to death allegedly by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League BAU unit.

On April 9, the authorities expelled three students of the university and suspended another three for various terms as the Board of Residence and Students Disciplinary Committee at a meeting recommended the action.
