State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam MP called upon Wednesday the UN to make its voice louder against Israeli atrocities in Gaza and the Security Council should take steps to stop it.
He gave the call at a meeting attended by the visiting UN Under Secretary General for Peace Keeping Operation Harve Ladsous at a city hotel. It was also attended by diplomats, senior government officials, academics, researchers and professionals from other organisations.
Mr Harve in his address praised 'steadfast contributions' of Bangladesh to global peace keeping missions.
Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque said Bangladesh so far provided 126,489 personnel for 54 global peace missions in 39 countries.
There are around 8,722 peace keepers at the moment stationed in different global crisis points mostly in African countries, according to him.
