BD makes \\\'notable progress in women empowerment\\\'

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said Bangladesh has achieved significant progress in women empowerment and gender equality, reports BSS.
She made the comment when the head of the Iranian parliamentary fraction of women and family affairs Fatemeh Rahbar called on her at Jatiya Sangsad office, said a press release Monday.
Highlighting the achievement of women empowerment in the country, Dr Shirin said women in Bangladesh are holding many important posts of the state including Prime Minister, Speaker and leader of the opposition.
Women are playing vital role in different areas of development through their active and meaningful participation, she added. Fatemeh Rahbar said, "Bangladesh deserves appreciation for its outstanding progress in women empowerment."
Bangladesh can be an example in the development of women, she added.
Referring to the existing excellent relations between Bangladesh and Iran, the speaker expressed the hope that the relations between the two countries would be strengthened in the days to come.
Fatemeh is leading a six-member parliamentary delegation. Other members of the delegation are Nayereh Akhavan Bitaraf, MP, Shahla Mirgalu Bayat, MP, Sakineh Omrani, MP, and representative of foreign office of Iran Hamidreza Soltanpour and Protocol expert Jalal Aboul Hassani.
