The fourth edition of biennial bilateral political consultations between the foreign ministries of Switzerland and Bangladesh will be held in Dhaka on April 02.
In order to participate in the consultations, the Swiss delegation has arrived in Dhaka on March 31 for a four-day visit. Ambassador Raphael Nägeli, the Assistant State Secretary for Asia-Pacific of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, and Ambassador Kamrul Ahsan, Secretary (Bilateral and Consular) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, will lead the respective delegations during the consultations.
Stocktaking and further strengthening of bilateral relations in the areas of economy, development cooperation and humanitarian aid will be high on the agenda during the discussions. Both the countries will talk about a wide range of multilateral, regional and global topics of mutual interest during the consultations.
The Swiss delegation, which also includes Ambassador Thomas Gass, the Assistant Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will travel to the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar to obtain a first-hand impression about the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Ambassador Nägeli and the Swiss delegation will meet with the representatives of the civil society and business, diplomatic community, international organisations and INGOs during their visit.
