BD to sign treaty with CERN on research

Bangladesh will sign a treaty on research with European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in June next, reports UNB.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and CERN director general Prof Rolf-Dieter Heuer at the latter's ministry office.
Under the treaty, researchers, teachers and students will be able to avail themselves of different facilities regarding science education and practice, and research works from CERN.
Besides, it was decided at the meeting that both local and CERN researchers will meet in a three-day workshop in Dhaka in December next.
During the meeting, Nahid thanked the CERN DG for visiting Bangladesh.
Education secretary Dr M Sadiq, CERN senior physicist Prof Emmanuel Tsesmelis, additional secretary to the ministry M Sohrab Hossain were present on the occasion.
