Bangladesh becomes the first country in South Asia to send two warships to the UN Peacekeeping Mission, UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon), reports UNB.
The warships, BNS Osman and BNS Madhumati, would leave Chittagong seaport for Lebanon today (Monday), the ISPR release said Sunday.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan will see off BNS Osman and BNS Madhumati at the New Mooring Jetty.
The joining of the Bangladesh Navy in UN peacekeeping in Lebanon will fetch a large amount of foreign exchange on one hand and on the other, brighten the country's image, strengthen the diplomatic relations and pave the way for Bangladesh Navy to join other UN peacekeeping missions.
