SHERPUR, Sep 17 (UNB): The troops of Paramilitary Bangladesh Rifles completed their two-day operation in the jungles of Garo hill under Jhenaigati Upazila Monday and recovered 10,000 rounds of ammunition, official sources said.
BDR first conducted a day-long drive in the hill range Sunday, three days after another such ammo haul in the frontier district, and seized almost the same types of bullets of rifle and sub-machinegun (SMG), three empty magazines and two harnesses.
"But, we did not recover any arms or ammunition during Monday's drive," a BDR official said.
Subedar Mohammad Ali Sarkar of BDR 45 Rifles Battalion filed a general diary with Jhenaigati thana in this connection.
Earlier on September 13, a team of BDR arrested an indigenous youth, Russell Sangma, and seized 29,100 bullets allegedly from his possession at Bakakura village under Jhenaigati Upazila.
