US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat has said she looks forward to meeting young Bangladeshis to hear from them about their hopes and dreams and how they see the future of Bangladesh, reports UNB.
"I'm specially excited to meet young Bangladeshis," she said in a video message introducing her with Bangladeshis.
Bernicat said when she first became a diplomat she had wanted to serve in 'Lal Sabujer Deshe', according to the video clip sent by the US Embassy in Dhaka Friday.
The US envoy also said she is excited to faster the 'enduring friendship' between the United States (US) and Bangladesh.
"I look forward to making many new friends along this short journey in Bangladesh that values tolerance and social harmony," Bernicat who came from a 'diverse and big family' said.
Quoting national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, she said Bangladeshis are 'limitless' as the sky with open minds like flowering petals.
Earlier, she said the US and Bangladesh have such a deep and broad relationship and she has a direct mandate to make it even stronger and she would work with everyone in the government to that end.
Bernicat, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, arrived in the city on January 25. Most recently she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Human Resources at the Department of State, a position she held since 2012.
