BGB-BGP joint border patrol ends in Naf

COX'S BAZAR, Mar 28: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar has completed a joint patrol in the Naf river, aimed at keeping up the friendly relation between the two neighbouring countries.
According to BGB sources, 12 members of BGB and 10 members of BGP took part in the one and half- hour-long joint border patrol in the Naf from 10 am to 11:30 am on Tuesday.
Border guards of both the countries performed the forth joint patrol on the border to ease tension and keep up the usual friendly atmosphere.
Subedar Ataur Rahman led the 12- member BGB team and Camp in-charge of BGP in Mongdaw area Eyh Own Swe led the 10-member Myanmar team in the joint patrol.
When contacted, Commanding Officer of 2nd battalion of BGB in Teknaf Lt Col Mohammad Asadud Zaman Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
BGB has sent a proposal to BGP of Myanmar to increase patrol in Tumbru, Ghundum and Teknaf border points, sources said.
Earlier, BGB and BGP held three joint patrols- on Tumbru and Ghundhum borders on March 4 and in the Naf River on March 14 and March 20.
BGB officials said regular joint patrol in border areas is needed for the sake of the friendly relation between the peoples of both countries.
Ten months ago, a joint patrol was held but due to Rohingya crisis it came to a halt.
