BGB rescue 41 in Benapole while being trafficked to Bangladesh

BENAPOLE, Mar 6 (UNB): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued at least 41 people including women, children and Indian nationals while they were being trafficked from India to Bangladesh through Putkhali Border on Tuesday morning.
Lt Col Tarikul Hakim, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion, said acting on a tip-off, a team of border force conducted a drive in the area and rescued 21 women, 15 men and five children while they were illegally entering into Bangladesh territory.
Most of the victims hailed from Narail, Faridpur and Khulna district.
One of the victims Rahima Khatun said a gang of traffickers brought them to Putkhali border from India's Bongaon area.
However, the traffickers managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the BGB men.
Later, they were handed over to Beanpole Police Station.
A case was filed with the police station concerned, the CO added.
