BHRC boss for revising child Act

KHULNA, Aug 7 (BSS): Chairman of the Bangladesh Human Rights Commission Prof Dr Md Mizanur Rahman underscored Thursday the need for revising child act saying that some discrepancies still exist in the act.
We will recommend to the government to make the law time befitting after detecting the faults, he said.
He also said media must follow the child act as well as directions as stated in the international child right charter in respect of publishing stories.
He was addressing as the chief guest a views-exchange meeting on 'Morality and Principles of journalism regarding Children' held at a city hotel.
MRDI organised the meeting in collaboration with the UNICEF. Executive Director of MRDI Hasibur Rahman Mukur moderated the meeting while CEO of INFOCUS and ex- bureau chief of Associated Press(AP) Farid Hossain presented the keynote paper.
Editors of local dailies, local journalists, teachers, women leaders, NGO Personnel, Government officials, among others, attended the meeting.
Dr Rahman said media must keep watch so that children are not victims of inequality.
Speakers in the meeting underscored the need for identical rules and regulations to publish story on children.
In the keynote paper, Farid Hossain stated that media should be careful about publishing stories on children so that they are not caught by any kind of negative effect.
