Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu Thursday instructed Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (BITAC) to prepare a database of the people who have received training from the institute to help the government facilitate the employment generation programme.
Detailed information on the job description of trainees and products and problems they faced in jobs or businesses and its solutions as well as government support needed to increase entrepreneurship should also be included in the database to help eradicate poverty, he added.
The minister gave the directives while distributing the certificates among the trainees at BITAC in city's Tejgaon. The function was organised under the practical technical training for women to create self-employment and poverty alleviation project.
Under the project, a total of 13,018 people, including 5,530 female and 7,488 male have received training. Of them, 2,245 female and 2,209 male have been employed in different industries while others have become self-reliant by setting up various small and cottage industries on their own.
Pran-RFL employed 106 people from the trainees of different trades who received certificates at the function on the day.
Industries secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, project director Shafiqur Rahman, human resources division head of Pran-RFL Samir Chakrabarti, trainees Sheuli Rani and Salma Khatun also spoke on the occasion with BITAC director general Abdul Matin in the chair.
Mr Amu said technically-skilled manpower is badly needed to achieve the target of rapid industrialisation. The government has strengthened the activities of technical training centre (TTC) and established polytechnic institutes in all districts, he added.
"The process of developing technically trained and skilled personnel has been strengthened. There is scope for creating job opportunity and boosting remittances by increasing the number of trained people," he said.
The minister also noted that it is not possible to achieve sustainable economic development without contribution from womenfolk.
