BMD asks maritime ports to hoist local cautionary signal no-3

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has directed the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal number-3, as a seasonal low may trigger squally weather over the north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coastal areas.
The BMD in its special weather bulletin, issued on Monday morning, said the seasonal low, which had been over West Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha coast, had moved west-northwestwards and was located over inland Odisha and adjoining southern Jharkhand of India.
The weather system is likely to move further west-northwestwards. Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the north Bay of Bengal, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it said.
