Body formed to help accelerate implementation of RTI Act

The Information Commission has decided to form a five-member recommendation committee for accelerating the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, reports BSS.
The decision was taken at a workshop jointly organised by the World Bank (WB), Information Commission and the Cabinet Division at a city hotel Wednesday.
They also decided that the committee will formulate their recommendations and submit those to the proper authority for further action, said an official release of the Information Commission in the city Thursday.
Chaired by Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Mohammad Faruque, the workshop was also addressed, among others, by Task Team Leader of the World Bank Tracy Marie Lane, Public sector specialist Vikram K Chand, DFID team leader Richard Batter Warth, WB's consultant Barrister Manjur Hasan and Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.
Besides, Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Mesbah-Ul-Alam, Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Ministry Quazi Akhter Hossain, Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Ministry M Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary of Agriculture Ministry Dr SM Nazmul Islam, Secretary of LGRD Ministry M Manjur Hossain, Comptroller and Auditor General Masud Ahmed, Information Commissioner former secretary Mohammad Abu Taher and Prof Dr Sadeka Halim, TIB's executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman and high officials from different ministries and divisions were present.
